Can you find the sass in this photo?

Most of what I write about here is for anyone interested in changing up their current life a little bit. Whether that means you are looking for a new life philosophy or a recipe that can make gluten-free bread taste good (IS there even such a thing?) I hope to bring some insight from my own life to yours. And hopefully include some smiles along the way.

I was born and raised in The Heartland, graduated college and then made my way out into the big wide world in search of adventure. I found it on the east coast where I lived and worked for several years before returning to The Heartland where I met my husband and where we raised our three kids together.

Five years ago my nest emptied abruptly, inevitably and fiercely when my husband passed away on the day our youngest child left for college.

I stopped. Just sort of β€” stopped.

Very recently I’ve started again. This blog is hopefully going to be a part of that.

Thanks for reading.

  1. You have certainly had a lot of change in your life. Re-thinking your life is always difficult. I think that as I get older (in my fifties) I am less likely to want to start anything new.

But life often has other plans. My Mum passed away in 2010 and left a gap in my life. I must say that this blogging challenge has gone a long way towards filling up my new life! I am sure you will find your blogging immensely enjoyable as I do! πŸ™‚

  2. I can understand what you mean by stopped. My husband died 10 years ago, when my girls were 5 & 8 (he had been very ill for 3 years, and even though I knew it was coming, it was very hard, still is sometimes). Wishing you strength, love and support.
I, too, think you header pic is beautiful. Thanks for following my blog, I’m now following yours.

  3. I came here to express my sincere gratitude for your follow which led me to your lovely blog. I send my deepest sympathy for the darkness you’ve seen, but I also send my admiration for you summoning the strength to “start” back up again. You’ve joined a wonderful community of supportive and encouraging bloggers, so never hesitate to reach out. I can’t tell you how much the support of other bloggers has raised my spirits. And to receive such kind words from an Empress…Well it doesn’t get much better than that! πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks for following my blog and for having the courage to step out an re-enter the dance through writing and connecting with other people. All will be well….. one step at a time, one day at a time. Be brave. πŸ™‚

  5. Splendid Empress, I’m at once gladdened you’ve started again and saddened by what came before and might have somewhat precipitated the re-start. Ah, such is life, the highs mixed with the (sometimes very) lows. I’m very pleased and honored to have “met” you through WordPress and would like to welcome you here to this stage. I feel like I should translate “break a leg” into writing parlance. Break a pencil (in the event that you are using pencils)?! πŸ™‚ In any case, welcome and best writing wishes to you. Your blog is lovely and, yes, splendid!

So what do you think?
